Capitals happy with recent signing

Washington (June 2) -

Today marks the second day at which one of several top prospects, Evan McGrath was signed. "We felt it was the right thing to do, we are happy to have him signed, he has phenominal talent, he displayed it this year in the OHL becoming one of the better offensive stars in the league and we hope he will continue to grow as a player and show why he should have been a first round pick". The Washington Capitals selected Evan 57th overall, 3rd round in 2004. "Im pumped. Seeing the likes of Loui (Eriksson) Kronner (Niklas Kronwall), Jiri (Hudler), and Alex (Picard) already seeing time around the organization, im thrilled to be one of the top prospects remaining that will try and make a push for a spot as soon as i can, i want to play in the NHL and i will" Said McGrath.

In other news, GM Sviland is hoping that some youngsters who had AHL playoff success and late season NHL success will translate to next year and make a weak position a strong one. "If our forwards, rookies that is, can come in and play as strong this year as the following years defensemen like Liles, Seabrook, Kronwall play then we are looking perfect. We see high potential this year in the likes of strong end season success with Bergenheim for one. Picard shold make the team out of camp along with Jiri Hudler and/or Valterri Filppula. We are also high on Roman Voloshenko's emense sniping skills and we hope he can run the PP for us as soon as October. " With the high end talent in the Washington organization that was recently ranked number 1 by UFHLers, the capitals could have the league high rookies next year. Potentials include: Alex Picard, MA Pouliot, Jiri Hudler, Valterri Filppula, Tomas Fleischmann, Konstantin Pushkarev, Loui Eriksson, Jimmy Howard, and Roman Voloshenko. My the potential this group has could be one of the stronger ones in this up comming season, while not 1 is a high end talent, normally a few unexpected players turn out to be pure studs. Not many thought the likes of Prucha or Svatos would be getting huge amount of points, but they did, and Sviland is hoping thsi will happen soon with his organization. GM Sviland does have 1 regret, that Igor Grigorenko, who is/was a highly ranked forward out of russia signed. "We want him here, we couldnt give him more then we offered, it wasnt allowed, next year will be different and you can bet Igor WILL be a Capital in 2007-2008"
